The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized almost 500 bottles of Argentinian wine on the BR-282 motorway in Lages. The incident took place on Thursday evening (19).
According to information from the PRF, a Celta with licence plates from Balneário Rincão/SC was approached during an operation and officers found the boxes of wine in the back seat and boot of the vehicle. In total, 485 bottles of wine brought illegally from Argentina were inside the car.
The 26-year-old driver and the beverages were taken to the Federal Police. The man will be charged with the offence of embezzlement. According to the Ministry of Finance, the maximum monthly quota for alcoholic beverages entering the country is 12 litres per person.
